I have over 20 years of experience in software development, the majority of which has been spent in technical-leadership roles leading teams of software developers, application architects, and system analysts. I have worked in several industries including automotive, telecommunications, and insurance. I have given presentations on Agile in many venues both within and outside of my company including: Agile 2008 Toronto, Agile 2009 Chicago, Agile 2014 Orlando, MicroStrategy World 2010 Las Vegas, Hartford Society for Information Managers (SIM), as well as several New England Universities.In my current role, I lead the system analysis and application design teams where I drive process improvements to our development approach including the implementation Agile and Lean methodologies, consistent design and development standards, troubleshooting improvements, improved testing, and better automation. Most recently I have led pilots on the use of Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in our organization. Other responsibilities include: - Helping project teams select the right development approach: Scrum/XP, Kanban, SAFe - Guiding the design of applications using Agile Modeling techniques - Educating our developers on professional practices and standards such as test-driven development, continuous integration, pair programming best practices, code smells, refactoring patterns, object-oriented design principles, and design patterns - Shaping our company's approach for using offshore development on Agile projects. - Enhancing our approach through the use of appropriate tools, automated processes, metrics - Expanding the knowledge and use of Agile in our organization
